Here is a narrative by Past Commander R.K. Whiteford 1943 on how Harold Byrd post 66 came to be. Presented by Commander Jack Lyon
May 11, 1962.
The last paragraph bears reprinting here.
“ The expression in 1943 and in subsequent years by the Veterans of WW I ,
was that we desired a legion Home, and to provide it for our sons who returned
from WW II and we are here tonight to celebrate the turning of a new leaf,
in the black and not in the red any longer. Let’s try to keep it that way.”
